You’re invited to dinner!
A Community Meal to celebrate local food and the people (like you) that make it possible.
The story of stone soup tells the age-old tale of a community brought together by a meal that starts with nothing but a soup made with a stone and grows into a feast that arises out of the town’s generosity. To celebrate the harvest and the special bonds that local food creates, the farmers, producers and artisans of the Picton Farmers’ Market invite you to share a meal with them. Join us for a bowl of soup in Picton’s beautiful Crystal Palace. Local growers and producers will be donating their wares, and local chefs Jamie Kennedy, Zach Littlejohn and Suzanne Lafrance will transform it into three delicious soups. Fresh sourdough bread will be provided by The Elmbrook Farm and apples from The County Cider Company will be transformed into mouthwatering apple crisp by Curtis MacGregor.
Bring your bowl and spoon, bring your family and your friends, bring your appetite to enjoy a warm, hearty experience celebrating the richness of our local farms and the vibrancy of our community.
The event is “pay what you can,” with a suggested donation of $15 per person or $40 for a family of four. All funds raised will support the PEC Food Collective and the Picton Farmers’ Market. Door prizes will be provided by Picton Farmers’ Market vendors. There are two options to attend - 4 pm is the first seating and 5:30 pm is the second option.
Enjoy fabulous food, live music and reconnect with your neighbours and your community’s incredible local food scene.
The next day, on Sunday, come back to the Crystal Palace for the annual Picton Harvest Market where growers and producers from Picton’s Farmers’ Market will have their goods for sale for their season finale.
